The FOGGO's were for over 200 years the factors
for the Lords of NAIRN, whose estate was
at Loak, by Bankfoot. When they all sided for
the Jacobite Bonnie Prince Charlie in 1745,
afterwards troops turned them out and the NAIRNs
were exiled.Nairn House was eventually
destroyed in 1764. Jacobite sympathisers raised
funds for the now poverty-stricken FOGGOs,
and they furnished an inn on the main road which
attracted much custom. This inn was still in
the family's possession in 1836, run by Jean
ALLAN with 60 acres attached.
