Helen ALLAN was the eldest of two
daughters to Richard and Agnes ALLAN. Born in
Ladhope Parish between Stow and Galashiels, she
resided at Knowe Park, Selkirk at the time of her
marriage in 1872 to Adam CLAPPERTON, a plasterer.
They had at least seven children, all born at 6
Halliday Park, Selkirk. Her mother Agnes ALLAN
joined them in Selkirk briefly, after the death of
her father at "Harehead" in Cranshaws Parish in
1880.
