Richard ALLAN was the first child of John
ALLAN and Isabella HOGG. Born at "Blackhaugh",
Channelkirk Parish, Berwickshire in 1851, Richard
grew up on several farms as his parents moved
around. He lived with his parents until he married
in 1882 aged 31. At this stage he was living at the
family farm "Greenhope",Longformacus parish.
Married to Agnes MARTIN, daughter of James MARTIN
(Ploughman), and Jessie KERR, they brought up a
family of five. Moving between "Renton Barns",
"Horseley" and "Reston Hill" all in Coldingham
parish, then onto "Fellcleugh",Longformacus Parish
and "Kilpallet" in Whittinghame Parish (1890
-1892), the family settled at
"Redpath",Longformacus Parish by 1904 and stayed
until at least 1924. Richard ALLAN died there in
1904, and his wife in 1918. Of their children,
Isabella married and brought up three children,
Agnes Wilhemina (Minnie) went to Canada and had one
son, and John ALLAN a sheperd married Janet
McCRORIE and had the one son Richard John ALLAN .
John ALLAN farmed at "Redpath" at least until 1924.
He resided at Hardies Mill Place, Gordon at the
time of his death in 1948.
