Margaret ALLAN was the 2nd child of John
ALLAN and Isabella HOGG. Extremely little is known
of this family. Informant cousin Sybil CALTHERD (
nee WOOD ) of Foulden had not much recollection of
them, suffice to say that Margaret ALLAN probably
died before 1920. She married Robert BELL and had 2
issue. The first son John died young. Isabella
married Thomas PURVES, a one-time herd at Stenton,
East Lothian. they had at least 3 issue. It is
known that their son David PURVES at one time
farmed at Stenton. Margaret ALLAN and Robert BELL
were possibly buried in Thurston, and Margaret
PURVES who died young was possibly buried at East
Linton, East Lothian.
