David ALLAN was the 4th child of David
ALLAN and Isabella ROBERTSON. Together with his
brother Richard they stayed on the farm at Scrub
Hill. He and Richard often wrote to (and visited)
Alex and Andrew ALLAN in Gippsland telling of farm
life and happenings. Like his father, he was
involved with the Scrub Hill Church all his life.
He did not hold many major community positions ,
but was a sober and industrious person. He brought
up 3 children. He lived in Scrub Hill all his life,
dying in 1934 aged 64. His son Andrew Alexander
ALLAN ( Alex ) carried on the farm until retirement
in the 1970's. Alex had only 2 daughters and so
sold the farm, ending 122 years of farming by the
ALLANs in that community. Alex and Pam moved into
Creswick town and retired. Alex died in 1982.
Alex's two daughters were both married in the Scrub
Hill Church. Bronwyn later moved to a farm with her
husband at Watchupga, near Birchip, Victoria.
Mother Pam HENDER left Creswick afterwards and went
to Woomelang near Birchip, returning to Creswick
prior to her death in 1997. Alison and Isa ALLAN
were both schoolteachers, and were the first to be
involved in ALLAN history, when they visited "
Inverlair ", Scotland in the late 1960's.
