James Selby ALLAN was the youngest in the family
of Richard ALLAN and Margaret SELBY. In 1908 he was
a policeman in the Newcastle-upon-Tyne area in
England. He lived at: 1908-Police Station, Wallsend
on Tyne, 1909-Morpeth, 1910-Police St, Ashington,
1911-Police St, Wallbottle. He married Lilian RYLE
in 1910, and had 2 children. He regularly visited
his brother Richard back in Berwickshire, and his
nephew George ALLAN who worked on the tramways in
Newcastle 1908 -1912. James Selby ALLAN apparently
died early in life, and his widow corresponded a
few times to their nephew George ALLAN (by now in
Canada), but the correspondence stopped shortly
after.
Lillian Ryle married 2ndly to a Mr HAYES. Both
children emigrated to New Zealand. This branch was
found by Chris Allan in 2003, via internet notices
posted by Diane Allan.
