David ALLAN was the eldest son of David
ALLAN and Eliza HARPER. Leaving for New Zealand in
Oct 1903, he arrived only to be told of the
unexpected death of his father back home in
Scotland from pnuemonia. Having two uncles ( Alex
& Andrew ALLAN ) already in the South Island of
New Zealand no doubt influenced his decision to
emigrate, and he presumably had some contact with
these relatives. He was the Company Director for
Wright Stephenson Stock & Station Agents. He
married and brought up three daughters in Dunedin,
and later moved to Wellington in the North Island.
