*** FAMILY HISTORY
***
|
|
George ALLAN was the only son of an
unmarried mother Agnes ALLAN. He was most likely
raised with his mother's own family, and was
treated as a younger brother. He went to Newcastle,
England on the railways. His uncle James Selby
ALLAN was also a policeman there. He corresponded
with his uncle James, and other uncle Richard ALLAN
back in Berwickshire. They addressed themselves as
"Brothers". In 1912, George went to Canada and for
42 years was a bridge building carpenter with
Canadian National Railways. He married Catherine
ADAIR in 1927 in New Westminster. She was 16 years
the younger. He brought up a family of 3, and lived
in New Westminster until his death in 1963.
