David was born in South Shields New Castle UK in
1941 , Went to school in Southshields until he was
14yrs when his Dad George who was at Sea from a
young age and war time and David was 10yrs George
was a Captain of a Coal Carrying Ship . George
decided to come to New Zealand in 1955 and came out
as 1st Mate on the Golden Bay Cement ship . David
and his mum Marianne and sister April born 1944
came out to New Zealand on the Ship SS Mataroa Shaw
Savill Line and was met in Auckland by George and
came to Wellington . They bought a home in
Plimmerton where we live now and David went to
Wellington Boys College as there was no College out
this way then and April went to Plimmerton School
and then on to Mana College . David went to work
for the NZPO as a Radio Technician and was there
for Forty years,. David did a trip home for a year
in 1965 and traveled all round Scotland and Europe
and spend time in England.
