He was born in Duns in 1943 graduated in chemistry from Edinburgh, and married Christine TAIT of Yetholm, Roxburghshire in 1968. Christine is a primary teacher. John Hogg ALLAN has taught mostly at Galashiels Academy, and lived at Ashkirk, Selkirkshire. They have 3 sons. Alasdair ALLAN who studied Scot's language at Glasgow was of enormous help in compiling this history.
